Valdez, Alaska, March 30, 2022: The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive is pleased to announce its new temporary exhibit, White Gold: A Tribute to the World Extreme Skiing Championships. The exhibit opened on March 29, 2022 and runs through May 1, 2022 at the Valdez Museum on Egan. It is a must-see for winter recreation enthusiasts, telling story of Valdez’s game-changing entry into the world of winter sports. Between 1991 and 2000, the World Extreme Skiing Championships (WESC) helped to define the word “extreme” and made a name for the town as a winter destination. Enjoy our updated display of artifacts, photos and mementos that tell the stories of this amazing event!
