Says he was on Copper River in 94-95 where he located a rich claim taking $9000 but left because of the Indians; organized party of 25 from Los Angeles to return; party of 36 on Topeka for Juneau, will take steamer from Juneau to South forks [of Copper River?] where they will spend the winter; in spring will begin prospecting about 10 miles from South Forks; the river is navigable for 80 miles for an average steamer and 112 miles for smaller boats; taking 2400 rounds of ammunition per person in case of Indian trouble, party members include Brooks, Robinson, Winslow, Holmes, O’Neal, Vanhorn, Port Townsend Weekly Leader, 9/2/97;
