The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive preserves, presents, and interprets the heritage and culture of Valdez, the Copper River Basin, and Prince William Sound, Alaska. With our vast collection of artifacts and exhibits, the Museum has been a great source of education and cultural information for visitors over the years. However, like any other building, the Museum requires regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure it continues to serve its purpose effectively.
The Museum will be closed from December 17, 2023 – April 1, 2024, due to maintenance work on our HVAC system. Our curatorial staff and volunteers are working diligently to relocate artifacts in the affected areas and ensure that they are properly cared for during the closure.
The museum board and staff understand that this 3-and-a-half-month closure will have an impact on its operations and visitation.
Please consider visiting the Valdez Museum gift shop for your holiday shopping needs! It will be open from December 19 – 21st, 12-5 pm, and December 22 – 23rd, 9-5pm. This is a great opportunity to get your last-minute holiday shopping done and support the Museum at the same time. By purchasing something from the gift shop, you can help the Museum continue to serve the community for years to come.
We thank everyone for your understanding and support during this time, and we look forward to welcoming visitors back in April 2024.
