Enjoy this special day of celebration for Americans! This federal holiday for the United States commemorates the Declaration of Independence, signed in 1776, which marks  the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain. The holiday is rooted in the fabric of our country, similar to the Valdez Museum and its focus on the rich history and culture of Valdez, the Copper Basin and Prince William Sound, Alaska. The Valdez Museum on Egan (downtown) and the Remembering Old Valdez Exhibit on Hazelet (across from the ferry dock) are both open from 9am to 5pm on July 4th.
