Valdez, Alaska, April 12, 2022: Everyone is invited to the Valdez Museum on Egan Drive for an Earth Day Celebration Friday, April 22, 2022.
Each year on April 22nd Earth Day marks the anniversary of public consciousness that led to the modern environmental movement. The first Earth Day was held in 1970, and by the end of that decade progress was visible in many ways; such as creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and passage of numerous “first of their kind” environmental laws. They include the National Environmental Education Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.
Today, Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, when more than a billion people every year observe it as a day of action to change human behavior as well as create global, national and local policy changes.
Now, down to a local level–on April 22, 2022 Museum Educator Faith Revell is offering a variety of activities that relate to this global celebration. They are designed to interest museum visitors of all ages and will be held during the Museum’s open hours of 12 to 4 pm. For folks who want to explore outdoors, Ms. Revell is holding a Valdez Photography Walk from 4 to 5 pm following the afternoon activities.
And here’s a bonus–April 22, 2022 is also Free Friday at the Valdez Museum–free admission for all!
So bring along friends and family to enjoy the Valdez Museum Earth Day Celebration!
