RING IN THE NEW YEAR!
This shiny gold bell on our 1907 Ahrens Steamer is a perfect symbol for the Valdez Museum & Historical Archive to use in welcoming 2022 with enthusiasm and determination to fulfill our mission of sharing the rich history and culture of Valdez and Prince William Sound, Alaska. Looking ahead we will continue to connect with our community and visitors from around the globe through creative exhibits, programs and educational opportunities. Highlights for the coming year include:
- Illustrating Alaska: Artists Making Children’s Books which explores the colorful and intriguing process of illustrating children’s books. The exhibit, curated by Sarah Asper-Smith, highlights the process of four different Alaskan illustrators, each with a unique perspective on creating illustrations for a children’s book.
- Tuesday Nite History Talk, 5 and the Floor, in-person art workshops, classroom outreach activities and much more, plus twice weekly Facebook live broadcasts of Tales From the Archive and What Is It Wednesday?
- New Museum Project: We will continue moving forward with our vision of building a new, consolidated museum facility.
Hoping to see you soon at the Museum or enjoying our online programming.
