2018 WINTER WONDERLAND ROADHOUSE DINNER
Annual Fundraiser Honors Valdez Skiing Pioneer
Valdez, Alaska, August 15, 2018 – The Valdez Museum and Historical Archive is having its 17th annual Roadhouse Dinner and Auction on October 6, 2018 at the Valdez Civic Center, and each year we choose a historical theme to highlight an era or an industry. This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland Roadhouse” to celebrate the winter sports industry in Valdez. In recognition of the winter sports industry pioneers, we are honoring Karen Davey Stewart, posthumously, for her role in co-founding world extreme skiing in the Valdez area.
As a tireless volunteer worker during the ten years of World Extreme Ski Championships (WESC) Karen promoted skiing in the Chugach Mountains, statewide and internationally. WESC created a positive and lasting economic impact on the entire skiing industry in Alaska.
Karen was an active member of the Valdez Museum and Historical Archive. In her honor there will be a commemorative slide show presentation at the 2018 Roadhouse Dinner which promises to be our grandest fundraiser yet. It will be a delightful evening that includes a sit-down dinner, no host bar, silent and live auctions, a grand prize drawing and more!
If you are interested in helping out in any capacity please contact Roadhouse Chairperson Sara Irwin-Goudreau via email: sara.irwingoudreau@gmail.com.
All funds raised at this event are used to support mission driven educational programs, exhibits and presentations.
