The Helen W. Almy was the third South Seas “blackbirder” to be lost in recent years. The ship was involved with transporting slaves from the Gilbert Islands to Central America a few years ago. The other ships were the Tahiti and the Montserrat. Portland Oregonian, 3/27/98;
